Emma

Female

Emma is a young female cat who is still a little cautious, but very curious. Her curiosity helps her take small steps toward her people again and again: she comes out of her hiding place, looks around, and carefully sniffs at what is happening around her. She likes it when people stay calm and unobtrusive and give her the time she needs. Then she likes to stay nearby, lets herself be scratched on the head, and by now also enjoys her first strokes along the back. Emma relies heavily on her friend Bärli and gains additional confidence through him. Both are far more curious than fearful and increasingly show that they can enjoy closeness to people, even though they still react cautiously to new situations. For Emma, we wish for a quiet home without children, with people who respect her pace and do not pressure her, since she comes on her own. After an appropriate adjustment period, we wish for Emma to have outdoor access in a traffic-calmed area. In addition, she should absolutely be placed together with Bärli, as the two are very attached to each other

DE·Show original

About Emma

What life with Emma looks like

Emma is an adult cat waiting at Tierheim Crailsheim in Germany.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Emma, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Emma?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Crailsheim handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Emma on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Emma if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Crailsheim will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Emma already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Emma isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Crailsheim early rather than rehoming privately; they know Emma and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
