Adopt Erin Hounds

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy

We like to get out and about to show people what wonderful pets greyhounds and lurchers make and it is always lovely to meet our homed hounds again, so please do come along and say hello at these events. Rescue Reunion: Date: Saturday April 25th 2026 Time: 11am- 2.30pm Due to an unforeseen lack of staff at the very last minute, Emma, our amazing rescuer on the front line in Ireland was unable to attend last November’s Annual Meet and Greet which is the highlight of her year. To make up for this we are planning a big reunion of rescued sighthounds so please come along with them, if you can (and please donate homemade biscuits or cakes for us to sell along with hot drinks). In addition to gifts, tombola, woollen goods and collars, information about canine blood donors from Pet Blood Bank UK will be available. Please bring plenty of cash. Unwanted Euros will be gratefully received. The venue is undercover with toilets on site and free parking outside. The very best way to show appreciation of the amazing things that the front line rescuers do, is to help find more homes for the dogs they work so hard to rescue so why not bring along a friend to meet rescued sighthounds and chat to their owners. Location: Macclesfield Community Garden Centre, West Park, Macclesfield, SK10 3BJ The London Marathon Date: Sunday 26th April 2026 Please help us support Helen (Xena’s HuMum)who is raising funds for Erin Hounds by running the London Marathon. Helen’s Crowdfunding page can be found by clicking on this link or on the photo below. Wishing you all the best Helen and a heartfelt thank you from all of us. About Erin Hounds

What life with Erin Hounds looks like

Erin Hounds is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Erinhounds in UK.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Erin Hounds, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Erin Hounds?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Erinhounds handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Erin Hounds on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Erin Hounds if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Erinhounds will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Erin Hounds already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Erin Hounds isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Erinhounds early rather than rehoming privately; they know Erin Hounds and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
