Espinete

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 4 years

About 4 years old (born around February 1, 2022), 32 cm, 6 kg male, will be neutered soon. Leishmaniosetest negative on May 8, 2026, will be retested before travel arrangements. Has a heart murmur, requires daily medication and is well managed. Still in the animal shelter in Spain Espinete – a cheerful charmer with great vitality Espinete is an exceptionally friendly and lively little male dog who loves attention from people. As soon as someone passes by his enclosure, he kindly draws attention to himself and hopes for some cuddles or kind words. With his open and cheerful nature, he quickly brings smiles to people. He also gets along well with other dogs. However, he particularly adores his girlfriend Luna, with whom he spends a lot of time. Walks are also one of his great passions. He runs excellently on a leash and enjoys every opportunity to explore the world outside the animal shelter. Health: During the veterinary intake examination, our vet discovered a heart murmur and referred Espinete to a cardiologist as a precaution. There, a comprehensive echocardiogram was performed. The diagnosis made lifelong daily medication necessary. The good news: Shortly after the start of treatment, a clear improvement in his condition became evident. Espinete feels much better and no longer has breathing problems. Additionally, he currently has a problem with a tooth (incisor) that needs to be removed. At the same time, his castration will also be performed. Both procedures are already scheduled and will take place once his heart problem is fully stabilized. His background: Espinete came from a Perrera where his health issue had been undetected for a long time. Fortunately, Carmen from our partner shelter became aware of him and brought him into our partner shelter. Looking back, this was a great stroke of luck, as without timely diagnosis and treatment, his heart problems could have had serious consequences over time. His future home: For Espinete, we wish for a loving home with people who appreciate his cheerful and affectionate nature. Walks should still be part of his daily routine, as exercise brings him great joy. However, activities should be adjusted to his health condition. Long, very strenuous hikes or intense sporting activities are not suitable for him. For that reason, Espinete is the ideal companion for people looking for a friendly, cuddly, and lively dog with whom they can enjoy beautiful walks and many cozy hours. Whoever gives him a home will receive a loyal little friend filled with joy and gratitude every day. Videos June 26:

Videos Juni 26:

About Espinete

What life with Espinete looks like

Espinete is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at home4dogs in Home4dogs.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Espinete, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Espinete?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. home4dogs handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Espinete on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Espinete if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — home4dogs will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Espinete already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Espinete isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with home4dogs early rather than rehoming privately; they know Espinete and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
