Esther

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 4 years

Meet Esther! She is a lovely smiley girl with a heart full of love. She is a very sweet little lady who absolutely thrives on attention and enjoys nothing more than plenty of fuss and affection from her favourite people. Esther is full of energy and has a fun, bouncy personality. She can get a little overexcited when meeting people and does jump up to say hello, so she will benefit from continued training to help her learn good manners. She is a clever girl who is eager to please and will flourish with consistent, positive reinforcement. She loves long walks and exploring the outdoors, so Esther is looking for an active family who can keep up with her adventurous spirit. Whether, its woodland walks, countryside hikes, or days out exploring, she’ll make a fantastic companion for an energetic home. Esther would suit a family who are committed to continuing her training and can provide her with plenty of exercise, enrichment, and of course, lots of love and cuddles. In return, you’ll gain a loyal, affectionate best friend who is always ready for the next adventure. Esther would benefit from a private secure garden. Esther has socialised well with other dogs while in our care and is very giddy and playful. We feel she could be rehomed with another dog of similar size and energy levels following a successful meet and greet (must be neutered). As Esther came into the home as a stray we have no previous history on her so would prefer any children in the home to be 12+ years.

About Esther

What life with Esther looks like

Esther is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Manchester & Cheshire Dogs Home (Manchester) in Manchester.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Esther, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Esther?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Manchester & Cheshire Dogs Home (Manchester) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Esther on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Esther if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Manchester & Cheshire Dogs Home (Manchester) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Esther already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Esther isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Manchester & Cheshire Dogs Home (Manchester) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Esther and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
