Estrella

Mixed Breed · Female

Description Our Spanish animal welfare workers report: Estrella is one of the dogs we worry about more than the others. Not because something is wrong with her, but because we wish for people who will take her as she is and work with her on the future. Estrella lived with a couple who unfortunately only kept her on a short chain with little contact with other dogs. When they could no longer care for her due to health reasons, she came to our animal protectors. People find the pretty female dog delightful and she is a very clingy snuggle-baby. However, due to her lack of experience with other dogs, she doesn’t get along with them as well. As a single dog, she would feel secure in a new home. But Estrella is such a loving female dog for whom all of this is worth it, we are completely sure. We wish for the people who will fall in love with Estrella and show her the beautiful sides of life. There is so much out there, far away from the short chain she was on for so long or the kennel she currently lives in. Update08.02.2026 new pictures, new video. Estrella now lives with up to 30 other dogs. It’s going well, but when it comes to toys or food, she still sometimes defends them. She gets along better with larger dogs, but tries to assert herself with smaller ones. In this regard, Estrella would still be better off as a single dog in a family home. With her people, she is very loving and cuddly and would surely enjoy life as a single princess. The female dog is currently unfortunately overweight. A healthy diet in her new home would certainly benefit her. Like most animals from abroad, Estrella will also need to adapt to life in Germany, as she knows neither large crowds of people nor the loud city traffic from Spain. But we are optimistic about her friendly character and believe she will adapt quickly. Therefore, we would like a very quiet home in a rural area, for example on the outskirts of a city, where she and her people can enjoy nature. We are looking for people who are willing to take this wonderful companion with patience, time, and in an affectionate way to the new life and home, respecting her boundaries. Please note:

About Estrella

What life with Estrella looks like

Estrella is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierischgeholfen e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Estrella, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Estrella?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierischgeholfen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Estrella on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Estrella if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierischgeholfen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Estrella already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Estrella isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierischgeholfen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Estrella and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
