Adopt Etna

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 5 years

5.07.2021 A female cat with three kittens arrived at the shelter from the Koerteklubi cattery in Kuressaa, who was seen moving around in a fox den as early as autumn 2020. When she arrived at the shelter, she was feral. Now, a foster home has managed to socialize her, who has small fears both towards people and other cats, but in a quiet home she is certainly a nice companion. Etna got her name after a volcano. She no longer runs away, rather she can be called a dormant volcano. Etna's current name is ash and fire because of her beautiful ginger color. We know that for every cat there is someone out there, sometimes it just takes a little longer to find each other or there is a family that understands the insecurity of one ginger cat and gives it the opportunity of a safe home. Etna goes home with an agreement and adoption fee, interested parties need to fill out a questionnaire beforehand, which can be found here: If you are interested, write , send a message via FB messenger or even call 58370708. Make an appointment and come visit Etna! We cannot change the whole world, but we can certainly make a difference for one cat born without a home.

About Etna

What life with Etna looks like

Etna is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at MTÜ Saaremaa Lemmikloomade Turvakodu in Kuressaare.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇪🇪Adopting from Estonia

The shelter typically completes the animal's vaccinations, microchipping, and pet passport before adoption. Specific fees and process details vary by shelter and country — confirm directly via the contact details in the sidebar.

Frequently asked

Adopting Etna, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Etna?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. MTÜ Saaremaa Lemmikloomade Turvakodu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Etna on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Etna if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — MTÜ Saaremaa Lemmikloomade Turvakodu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Etna already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Etna isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with MTÜ Saaremaa Lemmikloomade Turvakodu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Etna and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (ET). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
