Eule & Milli

British Shorthair · Female · Senior · 11 years

Eule and Milli are two gentle, calm female cats who came to our shelter as confiscations. They are now looking for a new forever home. Eule and Milli are two loving, calm female cats who are looking for a understanding and loving home. Both are initially reserved and need some time to gain trust. Once their hearts are won, they show themselves to be very affectionate to their caregivers and enjoy quiet petting and the closeness of their humans. The two are balanced and gentle cats who feel most comfortable in a quiet environment. Hectic and loud households do not suit their nature. Therefore, Eule and Milli are not placed with children or toddlers, nor with dogs. Of course, both are litter trained and wish for a home where they can arrive at their own pace. Patience, understanding and a quiet daily routine will help them feel safe and fully develop their loving side. Eule and Milli are exclusively placed in indoor housing with a secured balcony. A secured balcony offers them the opportunity to enjoy fresh air, observe the surroundings and relax in the sun without being exposed to danger. We are looking for people with a quiet home who appreciate their sensitive nature and can offer them a loving forever home. This animal comes from a pairing with a representative of a breeding line that is considered a breeding line. The breeding-related morphological and/or physiological changes in so-called breeding lines can lead to behavioral disorders and are associated with physical suffering and pain for the animals. According to § 11b of the Animal Welfare Act, the breeding of such animals is prohibited. A characteristic of this breed is the breeding-induced strong shortening of the facial skull. This leads to a narrowing of the upper airways and the tear duct, inward turning of the eyelid margin as well as underbite, overbite and crossbite, which among other things can make eating extremely difficult. The wide skull makes a natural birth difficult. If the animals suffer anatomically, it is a breeding line. As lawyers for the animals, we reject this. Pet owners who support such breeding are acting irresponsibly.

About Eule & Milli

What life with Eule & Milli looks like

Eule & Milli is a senior british shorthair cat waiting at Hamburger Tierschutzverein in Hamburg.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Eule & Milli, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Eule & Milli?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hamburger Tierschutzverein handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Eule & Milli on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Eule & Milli if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hamburger Tierschutzverein will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Eule & Milli already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Eule & Milli isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hamburger Tierschutzverein early rather than rehoming privately; they know Eule & Milli and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
