EURO Date of birth: 31/08/2023 At last the day has come for Euro to start looking for a forever home. He arrived terrified because, as far as we could find out, his previous owner mistreated him and kicked him, and whenever anyone tried to handle him he would snap and bite at all the workers. Euro was first taken to our shelter, where we began working on his socialization. We wanted him to learn to trust people, and before long he was wagging his little tail and showing great delight in walks. From the moment he arrived, he had terrible diarrhea, which we treated without success until one day we noticed Euro's abdomen beginning to swell. We ran tests right away and found he had roughly two liters of fluid in his abdomen, his albumin was extremely low, and his entire digestive system was severely inflamed. His diagnosis pointed to protein-losing enteropathy, a condition in which the body fails to absorb proteins. Over these months we have found a diet that works for Euro (he cannot eat anything other than this), and we have also managed to stabilize his medication at the lowest possible dose, although he will need to take corticosteroids for the rest of his life. His personality has changed, and he is a friendly little dog who lives happily with humans, dogs, and cats in a family setting. However, he must be handled with great care, because he has not yet been able to forget the mistreatment he suffered in his previous life. Euro is a Pinscher weighing around 5 kilos. EUROFecha de nacimiento: 31/08/2023Por fin ha llegado el día en que Euro empiece a buscar un hogar para siempre. Llegó aterrado porque, según pudimos averiguar, su dueño le maltrataba y trataba a patadas, y en cuanto intentaban manipularle se tiraba a morder a todos los trabajadores. Euro fue primeramente a nuestro refugio, donde empezamos a trabajar en su socialización, queríamos que confiara en las personas y en seguida empezó a movernos la colita y a ponerse muy contento con los paseos.Desde que llegó tenía unas diarreas horribles que estuvimos tratando sin resultado, hasta que un día vimos que Euro empezaba a hincharse por la zona del abdomen. Rápidamente le hicimos pruebas y se vio que tenía aproximadamente dos litros de líquido en el abdomen, su albúmina estaba por los suelos y tenía todo el sistema digestivo inflamadisimo, y su diagnóstico apuntaba a una enteropatia perdedora de proteínas, que hace que su cuerpo no absorba las proteínas. En estos meses hemos conseguido encontrar una alimentación que a euro le funciona (no puede tomar nada que no sea eso) y también hemos logrado estabilizar su medicación al mínimo posible, aunque tendrá que tomar corticoides de por vida. Su carácter ha cambiado y es un perrito simpático que convive en familia con humanos, perros y gatos sin problema, pero al que hay que tratar con mucho tacto porque todavía no ha podido olvidar los malos tratos que recibió en su vida anterior. Euro es un pinscher de cerca de 5 kilos.
