Eva

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 10 years

* April 2016 | 45cm | 15kg | Foster home Erzhausen This is our Eva. She is now living in a foster home near Frankfurt. We don't even know where to start telling about this little mouse. So far, fate has not been very kind to her. She has been at the animal shelter on Rhodes for many years (since 2017) and unfortunately remained in the farthest corner of the office. Now that this should finally come to an end, Dimitra brought her to our rescue center. Initially, she was examined by a veterinarian (everything is fine), her teeth were cleaned, and she was given a proper wellness treatment. Now about her story: She was rescued by a shelter employee from terrible conditions, with a tight wire wrapped around her left hind leg. Her general condition was very poor. Her leg had to be amputated, but fortunately, she recovered wonderfully. She lived several years in the shelter and was always overlooked. At the beginning of 2023, Dimitra took her to our rescue center, where although she was still shy, she gradually blossomed. Since the beginning of December 2023, she has been living in a foster home near Frankfurt. There, she lives with several dogs and is slowly thawing out. She now allows herself to be touched and carried, has already gone for walks a few times, and shows herself to be a crazy wonderful dog. Finally, she can relax and show her true character. Eva certainly needs some more time to fully thaw out, but she is developing beautifully. We are looking for a family for this little mouse, who will finally give her a warm and safe home. We have gotten to know Eva as a very calm and loving dog despite everything. She trusted Dimitra completely and allowed herself to be treated. At the vet, she also got along well with the cats. She also gets along great with other dogs and there are no problems at all. Eva is simply a very modest dog.

About Eva

What life with Eva looks like

Eva is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at og:image in Germany.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Eva, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Eva?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. og:image handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Eva on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Eva if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — og:image will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Eva already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Eva isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with og:image early rather than rehoming privately; they know Eva and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
