adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Ewa can stay forever! Her story: Ewa is a sensitive and rather shy young female dog who needs time, patience, and compassionate people to build trust. Currently, she only allows her foster parents to pet and stroke her. She meets strangers curiously and with a sniff, but physical touch is still uncomfortable for her. She prefers to observe from a distance first before opening up further. Once Ewa has built trust, she shows her wonderful true side: loving, friendly, and playful. She wants to please her person and develops a deep, loyal bond. Whoever wins Ewa's heart gets a loyal companion who is very attuned to their primary caregiver. Ewa gets along excellently with other dogs. She is social, open, and playful and lives harmoniously with a male dog at the moment. She is heavily oriented towards him, so a confident – preferably also playful – single dog would be a great help and real enrichment for Ewa. Ewa is nearly house-trained and has already mastered car rides well, although she is still a bit tense about it. With more practice and security, she will also become more relaxed. Ewa is a true treasure who will grow into a faithful lifelong companion with patience, calmness, and love. Whoever gives Ewa the time she needs will be rewarded with a very special canine soul. The charming Ewa is about 1 year old, weighs around 15 kg, and has a shoulder height of about 55 cm. She currently lives on a foster home in Braunschweig and can be visited by arrangement. Ewa is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated. After a positive EU pet passport, she of course brings her own. Thank you, Mari! You gave Ewa her name and thus an identity. As of: 19.12.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Stand: 19.12.2025

About Ewa

What life with Ewa looks like

Ewa is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ewa, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ewa?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ewa on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ewa if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ewa already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ewa isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ewa and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
