adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Fagus has found a home! His story: Innocent in wet and cold. Fagus needs your help! What must one do to end up in such a situation? The answer is: Nothing at all, just be a dog in Romania. Mud, wet straw in an open shed, wet blankets, and not a single warm spot. Alone and without hope of improvement. That's how Fagus lives. Fagus, who did nothing wrong, who never did anything bad or behaved badly. But that's all he knows. The beautiful white spotted dog with the light brown markings, the unique brown nose, and the friendly, light brown eyes looks surprised into the camera. What's happening here, he seems to ask. Am I really going to get a chance at a better life? Will someone like me? Will someone take me in? Will I finally have my own family? Can I lie in a warm, dry dog bed? Can I be a happy dog? Fagus is only about 1.5 years old. Hard to imagine how it will be for him if he has to spend the bitter cold winter there. The approximately 55 cm tall and estimated to weigh around 20 kg dog man belongs to the medium-sized four-leggeds and will probably not grow much more. How and why he ultimately ended up in Busag is unfortunately not known, but he is very friendly towards people, and on the photos, you can see that he is well handled and also allows the harness. Despite the harsh circumstances in which he lives, the handsome Fagus appears to be very well adapted to people and looks at the world with an open gaze. Even though he doesn't really get to experience much at the shelter, Fagus with his athletic build will surely be happy to be active and it would be great if his new family is also active and often wants to do something with the new family member. However, his people should also bring enough patience, empathy, and especially steadfastness, because Fagus must, like most dogs from the shelter, learn the dog ABCs first. Also, children should already be trained in handling dogs and recognize and accept their limits. Attending a positively working dog training class would definitely be recommended and a great help with all questions regarding dog training, so that Fagus and his people can go through their shared life stress-free and with good spirits. Do you want to help Fagus into a new life? Then contact us. We look forward to an informative conversation with you. Fagus is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas and has his EU pet passport. Many thanks to Karola E.-S.! You named Fagus! Date: 11.08.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Fagus hat sein Zuhause gefunden! Seine Geschichte: Schuldlos in Nässe und Kälte. Fagus braucht deine Hilfe! So lebt Fagus. Vielen Dank Karola E.-S.! Du hast Fagus seinen Namen geschenkt! Stand: 11.08.2024

About Fagus

What life with Fagus looks like

Fagus is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Fagus, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Fagus?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Fagus on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Fagus if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Fagus already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Fagus isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Fagus and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
