Farcik

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

Story of Farcik came to us at the end of October from a big rescue. Miraculously spotted, miraculously taken, miraculously saved. I could already write the first volume of a book about Farcik, I will gladly share all the information and invite someone to write the next chapters of Piesek Farcik's life. What is Farcik like? Emotional, curious, sociable, a bit stubborn (needs clear rules, instead of a lot of cuddling). Sometimes a bit of a gnom, sometimes a lost boy. But he has huge qualities! And as a Podlaski burek who didn't know touch, leash, city, or house - he made a huge progress. It was easy for him to get used to city noises, traveling by car, stairwell, elevator and everything else. At home, he is a dog who enjoys soft sofa, stuffed animals, pats, and play with female dog and one of the cats. He responds well to commands, making funny faces asking "am I really supposed to go back?" He is gentle with others (regardless of the species), flirtatious, seeking closeness. He definitely feels better staying at home with another dog, because there's some tendency towards excessive "sticking". Outside - strangers 👌 bikes, scooters 👌 even the company of friendly crows he accepted and knows that he can't pull out a feather from his head ☝️ We're still working on communication with dogs outside (or rather on its lack, because before Farcik thinks, it's already boiling) and we'll soon return to social walks. The topic was difficult, it's definitely better now, but there's still a long way to go to reach a "good" state. Despite everything, we are looking for a home for Farcik with another stable dog, who won't look down on a shared game. Because Farcik highly values time spent in the company of other animals at home. Isolating him from contacts won't bring anything good 🤷‍♀️ Farcik likes children, even a whole child, but he looks at these strangers rather with curiosity, not fear. Farcik is about a year old, 12.5 kg on the scale, he is an egg and will stay like that for now. He has all the vaccinations. He is a healthy dog.

Historia Farcik trafił do nas pod koniec października z dużej interwencji. Cudem dostrzeżony, cudem zabrany, cudem uratowany. O Farciku mogłabym już napisać pierwszy tom książki, chętnie przekażę wszystkie informację i zaproszę kogoś do napisania kolejnych rozdziałów z życia Pieska Farcika. Jaki jest Farcik ? Emocjonalny, ciekawski, towarzyski, trochę mamisynek ( potrzeba mu jasnych zasad, zamiast ogromu ciumkania). Czasem trochę gnom, a trochę pogubiony chłoptaś.

About Farcik

What life with Farcik looks like

Farcik is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Fundacja Zwierzęca Polana in Warszawa.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Farcik, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Farcik?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Zwierzęca Polana handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Farcik on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Farcik if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Zwierzęca Polana will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Farcik already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Farcik isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Zwierzęca Polana early rather than rehoming privately; they know Farcik and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
