Adopt Fatra/Kia

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 10 years

Fatra (name in the breeding station) / Kia (name with her owner) - is a female dog who lost not only her owner but also her home, which meant a lot to her, due to the death of her owner! Losing, after many years, not only her owner but also her territory is not pleasant at all! Kia initially seemed like a somewhat shy female dog, with whom we went through each step regarding veterinary care as well as socialization. Kia is very kind and affectionate towards people, but she does not have any interest in other female dogs. Fatra is ideal as a single dog in a family - as she lived for a long time, or with a large submissive male dog that will obey her. We are looking for a family that knows the character of the Czechoslovakian Wolfhound and is not a novice in breeding! Despite her age, which is just a number, Fatra is active and needs movement and activity. The Czechoslovakian Wolfhound is certainly not suitable for everyone, but only for people with experience. Kia is very intelligent and a bit demanding when it comes to feeding. Even though Kia is trained on a raw diet, she won't take just anything into her precious bowl! We put all our effort into finding one suitable family for Fatra, who deserves a shelter!

About Fatra/Kia

What life with Fatra/Kia looks like

Fatra/Kia is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at Malá farma in Slovakia.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇸🇰Adopting from Slovakia

Slovak rescue groups coordinate cross-border transport with European partners. Animals are chipped and vaccinated; sterilization is often included for adults and arranged post-adoption for puppies/kittens.

Frequently asked

Adopting Fatra/Kia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Fatra/Kia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Malá farma handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Fatra/Kia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Fatra/Kia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Malá farma will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Fatra/Kia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Fatra/Kia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Malá farma early rather than rehoming privately; they know Fatra/Kia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (SK). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
