Faun

European Shorthair · Male · Adult · 5 years

I am Faun! I was found injured and came to the shelter. Since then I have been waiting for people who can show me that I don't have to be afraid anymore and who are willing to give me the time I need. I am a friendly but very cautious cat. I am currently still a bit anxious around people and it takes me a while to trust them. I let my trusted people pet me gently now and these small steps mean a lot to me. In my new home I will probably need some time and patience before I can really open up. I generally get along with other cats, but I'm not looking for contact with them at the shelter right now. There is a noticeable deformation on my front paw, which is probably an old fracture. In everyday life I get along well with my three remaining paws. For my new home I wish for loving and patient people who don't expect me to be a cuddly cat from day one. I need the freedom to arrive at my own pace and decide for myself when I'm ready for more closeness. A quiet household would be ideal for me, where it's not constantly hectic and I can settle in quietly. If you want to give me the time I need and can also celebrate small steps, then please contact the shelter. Maybe you are exactly the person with whom I can eventually come out of my shell.Your Faun

DE·Show original

Dein Faun

About Faun

What life with Faun looks like

Faun is a adult european shorthair cat waiting at Tierschutzverein St. Pölten in St. Pölten.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇦🇹Adopting from Austria

Austrian shelters follow the federal Tierschutzgesetz framework: adopters sign a Schutzvertrag (protection contract) committing to the animal's welfare. Spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations are included; fees typically range €150–€350.

Frequently asked

Adopting Faun, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Faun?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein St. Pölten handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Faun on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Faun if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein St. Pölten will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Faun already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Faun isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein St. Pölten early rather than rehoming privately; they know Faun and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
