adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Fay has found her home! Her story: The sweet Fay is an approximately three-year-old female dog who was already a mother. We don't know much about her exact history, but it's clear that she took care of her puppies and was not in the spotlight herself. But then something terrible happened… Fay was caught by the Dog Catchers in October 2025 from an area in Romania and brought to the public shelter in Bistrita. We noticed that her mammary glands were full of milk and her udder was swollen. She must have had young puppies who were still dependent on her milk. But unfortunately, they were left alone, without their mother. What a drama and tragedy for this little family… 😓 Unfortunately, the puppies were never found. And Fay grieved for her painful loss for a long time… Now, several months later, Fay has adapted a little to the shelter. She realizes that nothing bad is happening to her and that it might be her springboard into a new, beautiful world. She enjoys being petted, wears her safety harness, and is already allowed to go out into the yard to move around a bit. She shows herself to be very friendly, kind, and attentive to people. She meets new situations with openness and appears overall to be pleasantly calm. Fay seeks the proximity of people without being intrusive and enjoys attention and affection very much. We are looking for a more rural home for Fay, preferably with a garden or an only-dog arrangement. But that is not a must. The pretty Fay wants to experience life, go for nice walks, and is already looking forward to long cuddle sessions. Daily routines, new sounds, and life in a family could be initially unfamiliar. With patience, calmness, and loving companionship, she will surely adapt well. Fay is a medium-sized female dog with a shoulder height of about 50-55 cm and a weight of around 25–28 kg. Do you want to give Fay the chance at a loving home and show her how it feels to be cared for with affection? Then contact us. Fay travels neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and treated for fleas. After a positive match, a big thank you goes to her godmother/godfather! You have given Fay not only an identity but also the chance at a new life! As of: 03.02.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Stand: 03.02.2026

About Fay

What life with Fay looks like

Fay is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Fay, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Fay?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Fay on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Fay if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Fay already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Fay isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Fay and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
