Fee

Mixed Breed · Female

Fee is a very special dog who has apparently not learned in her previous life that people can also mean safety and security. Therefore, she needs above all one thing: time, patience, and people who give her the necessary peace to arrive at her own pace. Fee is very friendly with dogs and cats. She even seeks out their company and enjoys their company. She also begins to take small steps towards her foster family: Sometimes she already gently touches the hand of her humans. For Fee, such small moments are already great progress. It still falls her difficult to initiate contact with people or make eye contact on her own. In unfamiliar situations, she reacts uncertainly and tries to withdraw. Therefore, Fee needs people who do not pressure her, but patiently show her that she has nothing to fear. The on and off leash must also be practiced in small steps and with a lot of calm. Fee is already house trained and reliably reports when she needs to go outside. She likes to take treats, especially when they come from the tube. A rice cake is also one of her favorite treats. We wish Fee a quiet, understanding home with people who have a lot of patience and empathy. A confident first dog could help her to orient herself and gain security. It is important that her new people do not expect Fee to become a trusting and confident dog overnight. Then her people can experience how real trust slowly develops from small cautious steps. Fee is not looking for an exciting life, but a safe place where she can just be. A place where no one forces anything from her and where she can learn: I am safe. I can stay. I am loved.

About Fee

What life with Fee looks like

Fee is a large adult mixed breed cat waiting at APAL Finikas (Kreta) in Greece.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇷Adopting from Greece

Greek shelters often partner with Northern European rescue groups for placements. Animals are sterilized, vaccinated, and chipped before adoption. Fees vary widely depending on whether the shelter is municipal or NGO-run.

Frequently asked

Adopting Fee, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Fee?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. APAL Finikas (Kreta) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Fee on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Fee if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — APAL Finikas (Kreta) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Fee already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Fee isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with APAL Finikas (Kreta) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Fee and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
