Fee

Female · Young · 3 years

Fee, medium-sized female dog; Gender: Female; Born: approx. 2023; Size: Medium-sized; Spayed: No; Cats: No; Other dogs: No; Children: From 12 years old. Fee is smart, eager to learn, and searching for the right people. Fee, a Border Collie-German Shepherd mix, was born around 2023 and carries the traits of two impressive—yet highly demanding—dog breeds. She’s intelligent, attentive, and quick to learn, but at the same time, she’s not the type of dog who simply “goes along passively.” Fee struggles with sensory overstimulation from movement. Passing bicycles, joggers, or other fast-moving objects can deeply occupy her attention and require careful, consistent training. That’s why we’re looking for people who already have experience with working-oriented dogs and are prepared to invest time, patience, and heart into her further development. Border Collies and German Shepherds were bred for challenging tasks. They thrive when mentally and physically stimulated, need clear structures, and require confident, steady leadership. Without these elements, unwanted behaviors can quickly become entrenched. That’s precisely why Fee isn’t a dog for just anyone. Her new home should not include small children, cats, or small pets. We’re seeking people who understand her needs, can provide her with a sense of security, and enjoy working and growing together with her. If you decide to welcome Fee into your life, you won’t get a “perfect” dog—but you will gain a companion who, with the right people by her side, has the potential to become a loyal and extraordinary companion.

About Fee

What life with Fee looks like

Fee is a young adult dog waiting at Tierheim Delitzsch in Delitzsch.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Fee, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Fee?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Delitzsch handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Fee on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Fee if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Delitzsch will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Fee already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Fee isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Delitzsch early rather than rehoming privately; they know Fee and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
