Adopt Feeny

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 8 years

The little delicate female German Shepherd Feeny originally comes from Romania. She came to Germany through ITV Grenzenlos and was adopted by a young couple from Hanover in 2016 when she was five months old. There she had a good home for a while. Unfortunately, the couple was overwhelmed with raising the dog. Personal issues added to the problem, and eventually they separated. The dog was not at fault but had to suffer greatly due to these circumstances. Feeny was passed around, sometimes went days without food, and was neglected. In February 2024, ITV Grenzenlos took her back. She is now in a foster home in Linsburg, where she is resting and regaining trust. She is very loving and enjoys cuddling, especially with men. The foster mother is a dog trainer. Feeny is developing into a pleasant and friendly female dog under her care. She is accustomed to other dogs and attends dog training classes. She knows basic commands, walks on a leash but mostly without one. And she loves riding in cars. She has also learned to run alongside bicycles and gets along with cats. Feeny can be jealous, so she should remain a single dog. She will only be rehomed to people with dog experience and a great understanding of Feeny's difficult past. Feeny is medium-sized and is now approximately 8 years old. If you would like to help this female dog and get to know her better, please call ITV Grenzenlos or the foster home directly. Walks well on a leash.

About Feeny

What life with Feeny looks like

Feeny is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at ITV Grenzenlos e.V. in Essel.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Feeny, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Feeny?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ITV Grenzenlos e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Feeny on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Feeny if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ITV Grenzenlos e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Feeny already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Feeny isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ITV Grenzenlos e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Feeny and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
