Feline

Mixed Breed · Male · Kitten · 2 months

Feivel and Feline are just over five months old (as of November 2023) and already have quite an adventurous story to tell. Most Podenco puppies that come into the care of our partner shelters in Spain are adult dogs, often abandoned by hunters after months and years of mistreatment. Fay, the mother of our Fledermaus-ear puppies, likely came from a pack and was "sorted out" by her owner in the spring. In August of this year, an animal rescuer became aware of Fay. The female dog was searching for food, and it was clear that she must have puppies somewhere. Our friend patiently followed the mother until they reached a property where six puppies were already impatiently waiting for their mother to return. It was quickly decided to bring the seven dogs to safety and have Fay spayed as soon as possible. But such plans often sound easier in theory than they are in practice—Fay and her puppies, who were already around eight weeks old, were far from pleased with the animal welfare workers' plans. In consultation with the property owners, it was decided to start by feeding the little family on-site, while also beginning to administer the puppies the urgent medications they needed against parasites. Fortunately, the young pups had a huge appetite, and their untrained snouts were not suspicious. However, they were still cautious. Fay and her daughter Frieda only made their way to the helpers' hands weeks later, under the use of a remotely triggered cage. The relieved helpers immediately made sure Fay was taken to the next vet clinic to prevent the next litter. The remaining three puppies were secured with great patience and spit over the following days. The little ones moved into loving foster homes, where they already received the best start in life for their journey home. Feivel unfortunately contracted Parvovirus and had to be taken to the vet clinic, where he spent his quarantine directly in the home of the founder of Puri Refugio. Meanwhile, his sister Feline has moved in with him, hoping that the two latecomers will soon find homes. Feivel is the smallest in the litter and convinces every person with his tender, reserved, but still curious nature. One can see that he has already learned many things from his mother. The delicate male dog with the large melancholic eyes explores his world with a love for detail and relies on his people to protect him. Feline is noticeably larger and more stable than her brother but no less trusting and curious. Although she is slowly getting a bit too big for it, Feline always wants to be picked up—likely, the future princess in the house doesn't want to lose control of her domain. Feline and Feivel are looking for families who will explain the world to them with patience and love. They have already experienced everyday life in their foster home, learned to trust, and relaxed, now they want to start a life as a family dog—with a dog bed by the heater, their own ball, and two-legged friends for a colorful dog life.

About Feline

What life with Feline looks like

Feline is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed cat waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Feline, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Feline?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Feline on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Feline if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Feline already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Feline isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Feline and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
