Adopt Felix

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 13 years

Felix – the last phase of life should be the most beautiful → Breed: mixed breed → Gender: male → Born: 2013 → Size / Weight: 50 cm / 20 kg → neutered: yes → vaccinated: yes → Identification: Chip → Compatible with: male dogs and female dogs → Incompatible with: unknown → Sponsorships possible: yes Description Felix is a dog grandpa, as the saying goes: about 12 years old, beautiful in appearance, and with a heart full of warmth. Of course, he shows the marks of his age – but he carries them with pride and dignity. One can see that he has a long life behind him, and that’s what makes him truly special. He’s no longer a dog for long walks or wild adventures, but a relaxed, cozy companion who enjoys the quieter sides of life. When he was found, his condition was shocking: emaciated to the bone, left behind without care. But Felix has recovered wonderfully in the shelter. He has decided not to look back but to move forward – full of hope for a home where he can finally receive the love and care he so deserves. Felix currently lives with Oma Rudi – the two are best friends. Of course, they will be rehomed separately, but it shows how social and loving Felix is. He appreciates having someone by his side, and he will be the same in his new family: loyal, clingy, and content when he just gets to be there.

About Felix

What life with Felix looks like

Felix is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Franz von Assisi e.V. in Germany.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Felix, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Felix?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Franz von Assisi e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Felix on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Felix if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Franz von Assisi e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Felix already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Felix isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Franz von Assisi e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Felix and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
