Felix (zusammen mit Nelly)

European Shorthair · Male · Senior · 12 years

"Felix" (black) and "Nelly" (black-white) are two very cuddly, clingy, and people-oriented cats. Since the two have spent their entire lives together and get along exceptionally well, they will only be rehomed together. During a dental procedure, it was determined that Felix likely suffers from FORL, a painful dental condition in cats where the tooth substance is gradually broken down. Therefore, a few teeth had to be extracted, which Felix tolerated very well. Additionally, blood was taken for a geriatric profile from both; the results are currently pending. "Felix" and "Nelly" are uncomplicated, age-appropriate, calm cats who greatly enjoy the contact with people and love to snuggle. They are used to living in a pure apartment living environment and feel comfortable with it. Therefore, we are looking for a loving home for the two of them in a pure apartment living environment. They would certainly appreciate a secure balcony, but this is not a prerequisite.

About Felix (zusammen mit Nelly)

What life with Felix (zusammen mit Nelly) looks like

Felix (zusammen mit Nelly) is a senior european shorthair cat waiting at BMT Tierheim Elisabethenhof in Germany.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Felix (zusammen mit Nelly), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Felix (zusammen mit Nelly)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. BMT Tierheim Elisabethenhof handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Felix (zusammen mit Nelly) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Felix (zusammen mit Nelly) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — BMT Tierheim Elisabethenhof will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Felix (zusammen mit Nelly) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Felix (zusammen mit Nelly) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with BMT Tierheim Elisabethenhof early rather than rehoming privately; they know Felix (zusammen mit Nelly) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
