Ferdynand

Mixed Breed · Male

Ferdynand is a very touching, elderly dog. Found in the summer of 2023, the poor old man wandered on hot days, alone and exhausted. Such a sad lot for older dogs that are abandoned or left alone after their caregiver passes away. Perhaps a similar story befell Ferdus. He is an absolutely charming old man. He is tired of life, so he doesn’t require long walks; a backyard where he could stroll would suffice. He is a gentle grandfather with a good appetite. A light massage and a hand pat bring him relief and a sense of security. Ferdus is a problem-free dog, he doesn’t react to other dogs, sometimes he grumbles like a mischievous old man. Everything is clearly signaled. Despite his age and slow gait, Ferdus is in pretty good condition, as confirmed by the test results. He desperately needs a home so he’s not alone anymore, to feel that he’s important to someone. He can’t be left to freeze in the winter, grandpa won’t make it. Let’s give him a chance at a home and love.

PL·Show original

Przynosi mu to ulgę i poczucie bezpieczeństwa.

About Ferdynand

What life with Ferdynand looks like

Ferdynand is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ferdynand, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ferdynand?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ferdynand on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ferdynand if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ferdynand already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ferdynand isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Milanówku early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ferdynand and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
