Feta & Olivia

British Shorthair · Female · Adult · 7 years

Olivia and Feta came to our shelter as seized animals. Now the two are looking for a new forever home. Feta and Olivia are two reserved and rather shy cats that together seek a quiet and understanding home. Both initially approach new people with caution and need time to build trust. They currently do not like being touched and want to decide when they allow closeness. Therefore, they wish for people who respect their boundaries and give them the time they need. The two are familiar with living with other cats and feel safe in each other's company. Olivia especially takes longer to arrive. With patience, calmness, and a fixed routine, she can gradually gain trust and settle into her new home. Feta is suspected of having cerebellar hypoplasia. In this condition, the cerebellum did not fully develop during development. As a result, she walks somewhat unusually and moves wobbly. However, this disease is not painful. Feta copes well with her peculiarity but needs some consideration in everyday life. For example, flat litter boxes make it easier for her to access and use them without problems. Both cats are housebroken and will only be placed as indoor cats with a secured balcony. There, they can safely enjoy fresh air and observe their surroundings without being exposed to danger. Feta and Olivia will not be placed with dogs or families with small children, as they need a quiet home without haste. Empathetic people are sought who understand their reserved nature and enjoy gaining their trust step by step. Whoever gives Feta and Olivia the chance to arrive at their own pace, gives two special cats a safe home. Although they are not cats that immediately come onto your lap, they have the potential to build a very special bond with their humans with patience and love. If you would like to give Olivia and Feta a loving home, please send in your completed self-assessment (for the address, JavaScript must be enabled). 01.07.2026 (kw) This animal comes from a pairing with a representative of a breeding line that is considered a breeding line. The breeding-related morphological and/or physiological changes in so-called breeding lines can lead to behavioral disorders and are associated with physical suffering and pain for the animals. According to § 11b Animal Welfare Act, breeding such animals is prohibited. A hallmark of this breed is the genetically induced strong shortening of the facial skull. This leads to a narrowing of the upper airways and tear duct, inward turning of the eyelid margin as well as underbite, overbite and cross bite, which among other things can make eating extremely difficult. The wide skull makes natural birth difficult. If animals suffer anatomically, it is a breeding line. As advocates for animals, we reject these. Pet owners who support such breeding are acting irresponsibly.

About Feta & Olivia

What life with Feta & Olivia looks like

Feta & Olivia is a adult british shorthair cat waiting at Tierheim Hamburg in Hamburg.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Feta & Olivia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Feta & Olivia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Hamburg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Feta & Olivia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Feta & Olivia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Hamburg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Feta & Olivia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Feta & Olivia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Hamburg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Feta & Olivia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
