Adopt FEUERWEHR

Male

Probably due to exhaustion, our female cockatiil had fallen from a tree back then. Luckily, a woman found him and informed FEUERWEHR. She then took him to the clinic, where he was rehabilitated and subsequently handed over to us. We don't know where he originally came from. No one has responded to our found animal notice. During the examinations at the clinic, it was determined that FEUERWEHR is a heart patient but currently does not require medication. Otherwise, he is a fit fellow and, despite his heart problems, a good flier. FEUERWEHR has been with us at the animal shelter for over a year and has recently been paired with a cockatiel lady. Our colleagues aptly named his companion "Fire Extinguisher." Fire Extinguisher also has a heart condition but currently does not require medication. FEUERWEHR and Fire Extinguisher would like to stay together and are looking for a loving home with a large aviary, plenty of free flight time, or ideally their own bird room. They would also be happy to join an existing flock. If you have a suitable spot and some experience with female cockatiils, we would be very grateful for a message from you.

About FEUERWEHR

What life with FEUERWEHR looks like

FEUERWEHR is a adult animal waiting at Tierheim München in Munich.

Every animal has their own temperament and history. The shelter knows FEUERWEHR far better than any listing can convey — ask about daily routine, ideal household, and what kind of adopter they're hoping for.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting FEUERWEHR, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about FEUERWEHR?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim München handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw FEUERWEHR on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt FEUERWEHR if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim München will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is FEUERWEHR already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most animals on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if FEUERWEHR isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim München early rather than rehoming privately; they know FEUERWEHR and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
