Fidel

Male · Adult · 5 years

Fidel is looking for a responsible home! Fidel is about 5-6 years old and weighs around 16 kg. This is a friendly dog who highly values human contact. Upon seeing the caregiver, Fidel is joyful, loves being petted, and especially enjoys being scratched behind the ears. He is well-behaved during grooming. This energetic dog quiets down well during longer physical activities. At the beginning of a walk, he can be overexcited, but he calms down over time. He can walk on a leash, though he may still pull a bit, so the future caregiver should continue working on his calm walking. Fidel does not accept other dogs and reacts to them reactively. We are looking for a home where he will be the only dog. The future caregiver should be prepared to work on his more relaxed reactions to passing dogs. We are looking for an active, responsible home for Fidel that will provide him with the right amount of exercise, consistent management, and plenty of closeness. In return, he will gain a devoted, loyal friend. This description was created based on observations of the dog at our shelter. Fidel is cared for by our shelter animal shelter in Tczew. The animal shelter registration number is 87/26. The male is vaccinated, dewormed, and neutered.

Fidel szuka odpowiedzialnego domu! Kontakt w sprawie adopcji: 58 531 96 56

About Fidel

What life with Fidel looks like

Fidel is a medium-sized adult dog waiting at OTOZ Animals — Schronisko w Tczewie in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Fidel, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Fidel?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. OTOZ Animals — Schronisko w Tczewie handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Fidel on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Fidel if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — OTOZ Animals — Schronisko w Tczewie will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Fidel already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Fidel isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with OTOZ Animals — Schronisko w Tczewie early rather than rehoming privately; they know Fidel and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
