adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Fiero could travel to his foster home at the beginning of April! Originally, he came from the public shelter in Bistrita and is now very happy about his gained freedom. At first, he was shy and uncertain about everything new, but Fiero is now truly warming up. The first dogs in his foster home give him security and support. The garden is very enjoyed by the approximately 8-year-old male dog, he likes to roll in the grass and let the sun shine on his fur. During walks, Fiero is still unsure and every new direction is a challenge for him that he manages with difficulty. Here, he needs the security at the end of the leash to go calmly, and then everything goes smoothly back home when this direction is taken. Encounters with other dogs still cause stress for Fiero when he is on the leash, and he reacts with uncertainty. Driving in the car is not a problem; he jumps into the car himself and off we go. He should not be rehomed with cats – they do not count as his friends. He knows the grandchildren who come to visit and has no problem with them, but they should not be too loud and lively. Too much chaos would still overwhelm Fiero, because that is also new for him. Therefore, he should find his home in a quiet, rural environment in a house and garden. An only dog could help him orient himself, find his place, and reduce his insecurity. Although the beautiful Fiero with his about 50 cm height counts among the medium-sized dogs, we would assume a Cane Corso in his ancestry based on his prominent features and build. The Cane Corso is generally a rather calm, composed, but also self-assured dog that requires a sensitive but clear pack leadership. His people are his everything, so Fiero could also develop a protective mentality in his new home. In the federal states of Bavaria and Brandenburg, the Cane Corso is listed in category 2 of the Rasseliste. To enter and be free from the leash and muzzle requirement, a behavioral assessment is necessary. Although Fiero is no longer a young pup, he is not too old to begin learning the house dog basics and adapt to a life in the house. However, it is important not to overwhelm him at the beginning and to focus on a calm adaptation and the building of a strong bond. Extensive walks, demanding playtimes, and of course plenty of cuddles will contribute to his well-being. We would also like an especially rural home with an enclosed garden for him. Fiero is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, treated for fleas, and has an EU pet passport. He is available after a successful "Where is the person, the family with Fiero has patience and he can continue to share his dog life with them?" Many thanks to Silvie S. for taking over his nametag sponsorship. Many thanks to Fellliebe Fotografie for the beautiful pictures of Fiero! Date: 18.03.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! About Fiero

What life with Fiero looks like

Fiero is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Fiero, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Fiero?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Fiero on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Fiero if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Fiero already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Fiero isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Fiero and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
