Fiete

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 7 years

Fiete, born 2019, is a male dog of about 51 cm with light, sand-colored fur and a calm, friendly nature. He is a quiet handsome boy who does not immediately take center stage, but touches hearts with his gentle manner. He watches his surroundings attentively and also shows curiosity. Toward people, Fiete is at first reserved and cautious, but he always remains friendly. He can be approached very well through food, however, and he takes treats from the hand. Update from visit on 20.08.: Fiete is friendly again and visibly delighted by the wonderful treats Tanja brought. He gladly takes the treats from the hand! We are very happy that he continues to open up more and more. Now he should finally get his chance. Perhaps you are the one who can finally offer this handsome little fellow a loving home or a foster placement – if so, please be sure to contact us! Fiete does not push himself forward, but he shows interest and openness when given the necessary space. Overall, he is a calm, balanced male dog. With other dogs, Fiete is very social and affectionate. He currently lives very harmoniously with the female dog Maya. Lying together and cuddling are a completely natural part of this for him and clearly give him a sense of security. For Fiete, we are hoping for a foster placement or directly a home with sensitive people who will give him time to build trust and who appreciate his refined nature. A friendly, confident first dog would be a great support for him and would make his start into a new life considerably easier, though this is not a requirement. With calm, patience, and reliability, Fiete will continue to open up and become a loyal companion who lives closeness quietly but intensely. Fiete is neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated, and will be rehomed through the animal welfare association Vierbeiner in Not e.V. after a positive pre-screening. General note about our animals: Our dogs in Romania are visited regularly so that we can continually reassess their behavior and development. These personal impressions help us greatly in presenting each individual dog as accurately as possible. However, we would like to point out that a dog may show itself differently in a new environment – with new people, new routines, and new impressions. This is entirely normal and part of every process of change. Many dogs even open up faster at home and show sides that were not visible at the shelter at all. Our assessments are therefore based on current observations, but they are no guarantee of every behavior in a new setting. They are meant to provide guidance and show how the dog presents itself at the shelter – and what potential lies within him. We are convinced that with patience, understanding, and a loving environment, every dog can find its way and continue to develop positively.

About Fiete

What life with Fiete looks like

Fiete is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Vierbeiner in Not e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Fiete, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Fiete?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Vierbeiner in Not e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Fiete on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Fiete if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Vierbeiner in Not e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Fiete already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Fiete isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Vierbeiner in Not e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Fiete and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
