Figs

Mixed Breed · Male

Figs - also known as Figgies, Figgywigs and Figgypuds - is an beautiful, affectionate boy who loves a snuggle and a quiet lap to rest on. Champion fly and moth catcher, he loves to play ball and catch treats as his reward. Figs was adored by his previous family, and as such we have been incredibly fortunate to have a lot of history on his likes and dislikes. Rehoming Figs is something that has come through no fault of either Figs or his family, but the health of a child must come first. He does have a couple of issues around food. Like a lot of male cats, he will gorge himself until he is sick. Through trial and error, he has found a diet that suits him and is affordable to sustain for a new family. He thrives on routine. Figs learned to tolerate his human brother, but would be best in a home without children. He strongly dislikes dogs, and would not like to live in a home with other cats.

About Figs

What life with Figs looks like

Figs is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at Shropshire Cat Rescue in United Kingdom.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Figs, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Figs?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Shropshire Cat Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Figs on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Figs if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Shropshire Cat Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Figs already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Figs isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Shropshire Cat Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Figs and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
