Adopt Filet

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 4 years

Filet, a dog born in October 2022. Filet is a young, easy-going dog. He has lived with us for about a month, but we have the impression that he hasn't fully adapted to our animal shelter. He seems lost and may miss his previous owner. During his first walk with other dogs, it became clear that it would be better if Filet was alone, as he quickly got into a conflict with another dog that had no bad intentions. He may have reacted out of fear, but for now, he will only be walked without the presence of other dogs. In the presence of humans, Filet is really submissive, enjoys being cuddled and petted, so don't hesitate to ask. He also likes to travel in a carrier and observe his surroundings from a high vantage point. He is not an overly energetic dog; he will run a little, walk a little, but he doesn't have an excessive amount of energy. Filet has a very good appetite and it's clear that he was lacking food before. That's why he is so grateful for our care and he doesn't cause any problems, and he doesn't destroy anything in his kennel. We would like to find him a warm home with a comfortable bed and loving people who will never leave him. Filet is microchipped, declawed, vaccinated, and neutered.

Filet, pies urodzony w październiku 2022r. Filet to młody, niekłopotliwy psiak.

About Filet

What life with Filet looks like

Filet is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Janik (Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski) in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Filet, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Filet?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Janik (Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Filet on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Filet if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Janik (Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Filet already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Filet isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Janik (Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Filet and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
