Adopt Filip

Mixed Breed · Male

Filip is approximately 2 years old AMSTAFF. Filip has had difficult experiences – had to fight for survival on the streets of Ukraine, spending the entire winter in the cold… He severely emaciated. The worst part is that Filip had a owner! Despite that, he lived like a stray dog. Eventually, Ukrainian activists took care of Filip under the name Filip. On the eastern side, he had no chance for a normal home – only people who wanted to take Filip for a backyard, on a leash… Or for dog fights. Currently, we are fighting for his return to health (liver disease) and a few extra kilograms – Filip is still thin. The prospects are good. Filip has a difficult relationship with food due to his past – he gobbles it down when starving, checks garbage bins, and eats very quickly. Also, he is strong and likes to have his own way. However, he is still a wonderful, loving companion for walks, able to communicate beautifully with other dogs (and is patient with them), walks calmly on a leash, and enjoys company. He loves being petted. He is vaccinated and neutered.

Filip to około 2 -letni AMSTAFF. Albo do walk psów. Uwielba pieszczoty. Jest zaszczepiony i wykastrowany.

About Filip

What life with Filip looks like

Filip is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Fundacja EkoStraż in Wrocław.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Filip, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Filip?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja EkoStraż handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Filip on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Filip if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja EkoStraż will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Filip already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Filip isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja EkoStraż early rather than rehoming privately; they know Filip and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
