Fina

English Bulldog · Female

Fina. Breed: French Bulldog. Gender: Female. Age: *16.01.2018. Living conditions: Not specified. Identification: H22/36. Fina was already rehomed, but she returned after 6 months because she successfully took over the leadership in her new home! Fina is NOT a dog for beginners! Fina likes to take matters into her own hands and manage resources and spaces if not led with consistency. The often-adopted princess status for this breed is poison for Fina and goes to her head. Without a stable counterpart, she quickly becomes a terror queen, moving her family on her terms. She needs clear body language and rules. Purely positive training concepts through positive reinforcement with treats are seen as a weakness, and she will question them after a short time. Here with us, she runs smoothly in the dog group. However, it must also be clear that the human leads the group. When she finds her place and knows she is not in charge, she is a cuddly, friendly dog who enjoys going for walks, can be left alone, and rides well in the car. Unfortunately, she has developed an allergy and needs a tablet twice daily. This keeps her symptom-free. Additionally, she has bilateral keratoconjunctivitis sicca, meaning no tear fluid is produced, which, untreated, leads to painful irritation and itching. Therefore, she needs eye ointment several times a day, which she tolerates well. Fina is neutered. Cats and small animals should not live in the new home. She will also not be rehomed with children. She wears a muzzle without problems and will need it in certain situations (e.g., vet visits). Emergency animal: No. Found animal: No. Rehomed:

Fina. Rasse: Franz. Bulldogge. (z.B. About Fina

What life with Fina looks like

Fina is a adult english bulldog dog waiting at Tierheim Geldern in Geldern.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Fina, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Fina?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Geldern handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Fina on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Fina if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Geldern will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Fina already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Fina isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Geldern early rather than rehoming privately; they know Fina and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
