Finchen

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Finchen has found her home! Her story: The little Finchen is a real sweetheart. Just one year old and with delicate 4.1 kg, she is one of the smallest in the shelter. But what she lacks in size, she makes up for with charm and cuteness. About her past life? We unfortunately know nothing. Perhaps she was never missed, perhaps she was never truly loved. Perhaps she simply lost her people – like so many others. What we do know: Finchen is now in safety, in a foster home in Romania. But this does not replace a home. Finchen is made for a warm dog bed by the side of loving people. She is incredibly friendly, playful, and happy – and yet gentle, calm, and very cuddly. Finchen is not a go-getter, but a little soul that likes to lean on and seek proximity. She loves people, is social with other dogs, and also gets along wonderfully with cats. With her young age, Finchen is in the middle of puberty – an important phase where she can learn how life in a family works. She will be curious to try things out, question rules, and discover the world. Right now, she needs people who are patient, loving, but also consistent – and help her develop into a safe, loyal companion. A good, positively working dog training class can help her a lot in this. Finchen is looking for people who will open their hearts to a little puppy. People who will show her that life also offers warmth, safety, and trust. People who will give her everything she has never known – and for that, she will be rewarded with infinite love and devotion. Finchen travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas to her new home. She will be available for positive adoption after you have fallen in love with the delicate Finchen and give her the home she so deserves. A big thank you to Becky! You have not only given Finchen a name but also hope. Status: 16.04.

Stand: 16.04.2025

About Finchen

What life with Finchen looks like

Finchen is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Finchen, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Finchen?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Finchen on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Finchen if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Finchen already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Finchen isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Finchen and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
