Findus

European Shorthair · Female

My name is Findus, and I am a beautiful, semi-feral tomcat, about 3 to 4 years old and now neutered. I showed up in Kirchhatten at the home of a cat lover who felt sorry for me after seeing that, out of desperation, I was eating oatmeal from the bird feeders at a neighbor's house. She put out food for me, which I eagerly accepted, and she took a photo of me, hence my "demon eyes." I was then caught with a live trap and am currently staying at a cattery with great food, but unfortunately, no one has the time to give me the care I need to build trust and overcome my shyness. I am looking for either a foster home or, ideally, people who will take me as I am now and give me the time and opportunity to build trust and overcome my current shyness. I am eagerly waiting for a chance to start a loving, permanent cat life.

About Findus

What life with Findus looks like

Findus is a adult european shorthair cat waiting at Tierschutzgemeinschaft Olland e.V. in Germany.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Findus, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Findus?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzgemeinschaft Olland e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Findus on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Findus if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzgemeinschaft Olland e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Findus already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Findus isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzgemeinschaft Olland e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Findus and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
