Finjo, a male dog, has been at the shelter since July 2026. He is estimated to be born around July 2024 and stands about 50-59 cm tall, weighing around 15-19 kg. Watch Finjo's video to meet him! **Dog Name:** Finjo **Breed:** Not specified **Shelter:** Not specified **Date:** July 2026 **Gender:** Male **Estimated Age:** Born around July 2024 **Estimated Height:** 50-59 cm **Estimated Weight:** 15-19 kg **Special Feature:** Gnadenplatz/Handicap (if not, delete) **Learn more about Finjo in a video!** Finjo is a friendly and outgoing male dog from Romania. He was found on the streets and brought to safety after being threatened with euthanasia. He has a friendly and affectionate nature and enjoys being petted and cuddled. He gets along well with his cage mate. **More information about how dogs come to the shelter and answers to general questions can be found in our animal welfare FAQ.** Finjo is a calm, open and very people-oriented dog. He approaches people on his own, enjoys being petted and seeks close physical contact. He also lives problem-free with his cage mate. This furry friend is new to the shelter. Our caregivers take the time to get to know and assess each dog. When we know more about the character of this furry friend, we will supplement this profile. Of course, you can still fill out a self-disclosure for this dog. Finjo's right ear is cropped. Many dogs in Romania have their ears cut off to make them look more dangerous. Our placement team knows the exact health status best. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us. Finjo is currently suitable for motivated dog beginners due to his friendly and uncomplicated nature. We are looking for people who are aware that shelter dogs bring a certain history with them. We can never predict how a dog will react to life in Germany at the shelter. That's why we're looking for people who have patience, perseverance and goodwill. But one thing is certain: Whoever adopts instead of buying not only gives a second chance to an animal, but also actively decides against animal suffering - and for a life with a very special companion by their side. Are you already in love? Send us a self-disclosure! **Adoption:** If you are considering adoption, please read the placement process first. All dogs are vaccinated, chipped, dewormed, flea-treated and neutered before departure (except for puppies up to 6 months and very old dogs). Dogs older than 1 year are also tested for Mediterranean diseases. If you have any questions, please write to our placement team.

About Finjo

What life with Finjo looks like

Finjo is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Hunderettung Europa e.V. in Duisburg.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Finjo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Finjo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hunderettung Europa e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Finjo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Finjo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hunderettung Europa e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Finjo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Finjo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hunderettung Europa e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Finjo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
