Finn

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 3 years

Mixed-breed Finn—a heart on four paws—is searching for his forever home. The handsome Finn originally comes from Bulgaria and now lives at a foster home in Germany. There, he shows anew every single day just how wonderful, gentle, and lovable a companion he is. Finn loves people above all else. He’s affectionate, cuddly, and thoroughly enjoys any attention he receives. He also gets along superbly with other dogs—and even approaches cats in a friendly and respectful manner. He approaches small children cautiously and calmly. In everyday life, Finn is truly a dream dog. He’s house-trained, travels comfortably in the car, and effortlessly navigates stairs as if he’d never done anything else. On a leash, he already walks very politely, paying close attention to the end of the leash and reliably responding to a whistle—as if he’d known his people for ages. Outdoors, Finn really blossoms. With his nose, he enthusiastically explores the world, happily sniffs out every exciting scent, and thoroughly enjoys long walks in nature. For active people who love being on the go, he’s the perfect companion. Of course, there’s still something to learn: Finn isn’t yet used to being left alone and will need to gradually build up that skill. But given that he’s only been living in Germany for a short time, this is completely normal. Finn is a little gourmet, and he finds food incredibly exciting. Yet, he shows absolutely no signs of resource guarding and remains friendly and relaxed at all times. Thanks to his easygoing, well-balanced nature, we can also easily imagine him as a great fit for motivated first-time dog owners who, with loving consistency, provide him with security and guidance. Finn is a one-of-a-kind, uncomplicated rascal with an enormous heart. Whoever gives him a home will gain a loyal friend for life—a dog whose gentle nature enriches everyday life and who wants to explore the world together with his people. Click here for Finn’s video!

DE·Show original

About Finn

What life with Finn looks like

Finn is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Finn, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Finn?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Finn on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Finn if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Finn already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Finn isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Finn and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
