Flick

Cocker Spaniel · Female · Senior · 10 years

Flick is a lovely 10-year-old Sprocker (Cocker Spaniel x Springer Spaniel), she is an easy-going and affectionate dog who enjoys her walks but is also very happy to chill on the sofa and have cuddles. In the home she is calm and settled, she is happy to be left alone for a few hours at a time once she is comfortable, and providing she has had a walk beforehand so she can relax and snooze. Flick travels well in the car, but may bark if people or dogs get too close. She may bark when strangers enter the house, but she settles once she realises that there is no threat. She does tend to keep her distance from people out and about, and while she may be a little nervous of new people initially, she warms up to them quickly. On her walks her favourite thing in the whole world is a tennis ball! Once she knows you, Flick has great recall and knows plenty of tricks, including sit, down, paw, touch, spin and walking between your legs, she even did agility for years but is enjoying her retirement now. Some days she enjoys running and exploring, while other days she will walk calmly next to you. With other animals, Flick does not like to share her things and enjoys her personal space. She can go for walks with doggy friends as long as they don’t bother her and give her plenty of space. She will react if a dog approaches her but this is managed by her current owner placing her on a lead while other dogs pass. She does resource guard certain items and can be very subtle with her body language to show she isn’t comfortable so will need owners who can read these signs. Flick is looking for a calm, understanding home where she can enjoy plenty of affection and a relaxed routine. She would like an adult only home with no other animals so that her space is respected and she can get all the attention to herself. Flick is being rehomed as part of our home to home scheme. This means we don’t undertake any official medical or behavioural assessments but we are supporting Flick’s owner to try and find her the perfect match. If we think you’ll make a good match, we will share your contact details with the current owner. They will be in touch if they would like to discuss the adoption further, and potentially arrange to meet. Adopt a Dog – JSPCA

About Flick

What life with Flick looks like

Flick is a senior cocker spaniel dog waiting at JSPCA — Jersey SPCA in United Kingdom.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Flick, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Flick?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. JSPCA — Jersey SPCA handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Flick on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Flick if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — JSPCA — Jersey SPCA will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Flick already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Flick isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with JSPCA — Jersey SPCA early rather than rehoming privately; they know Flick and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
