adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Flick has found his place of grace! His story: Flick is a gentle and friendly herding dog who is desperately seeking a warm home after a harsh blow of fate. Throughout his life, he had a home, but when his owner passed away, the family dropped him off at the shelter. Now, the old male dog no longer understands the world – from a familiar environment into a loud, foreign one, without the people he trusted. Despite everything, Flick shows incredible friendliness and human-centric behavior. He enjoys every bit of attention and seeks the closeness of people who can offer him a little security. He gets along well with other dogs, and although he is a herding dog, he shows a calm and relaxed demeanor in his old age. As a typical herding dog, Flick comes with certain breed-specific traits. Herding dogs were originally bred to work independently and protect territories and their family. Even though Flick is now a senior, his new people should be aware of these traits. He would be best suited in a rural, quiet home, ideally with a large, fenced-in property. A turbulent city life or a household with many changing visitors would be less suitable for him. For Flick, we wish nothing more than a loving home where he can spend his last years in warmth and security. A soft dog bed, patient hands that stroke him, and people who can show him what it means to be loved again – more than that, he doesn’t need to be happy. Even a foster placement would be greatly appreciated by the wonderful male dog. Flick travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas. He possesses an EU pet passport and can be adopted after a positive match. Do you want to be Flick's home where he can enjoy his twilight years? A big thank you goes to Anja B., you gave Flick the chance to be reborn with his name! Many thanks to Angela Sch.! You support Flick with a monthly sponsorship! Status: 20.02.

Vielen Dank Angela Sch.! Du unterstützt Flick mit einer monatlichen Patenschaft! About Flick

What life with Flick looks like

Flick is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Flick, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Flick?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Flick on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Flick if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Flick already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Flick isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Flick and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
