Adopt Flora

European Shorthair · Female · Kitten

Description FLORA, the discarded cat Flora arrived at our shelter through some people who said they found her on the street, although we think her own "family" simply abandoned her, unable to face up and clearly state that they no longer wanted her. A cat with such significant obesity was never part of their plans; as if that obesity wasn't the result of poor nutrition they had given her. There are many forms of cruelty, and this is one of them. There are no cats with that level of obesity on the streets; it is physically impossible because after a very comprehensive analysis, no metabolic problem was found; it is simply obesity due to poor nutrition. Flora is a good, calm, and very affectionate cat. She only needs her diet to be carefully monitored, to be "forced" to do some exercise through play and stimulation, to be given, in short, everything her old family refused or failed to give her, and to be carried to lose almost 9 kilos. Now she is in a wonderful foster care home where she is cared for and pampered, encouraged to walk, and given the appropriate food. She is on the path to recovery, and all she needs is a permanent home to continue this process. She deserves it. If you feel you can offer her these care needs and commit to her for the rest of her life, Flora will reward your care with all her affection and endless purring.

About Flora

What life with Flora looks like

Flora is a puppy/kitten european shorthair cat waiting at Keywords in Spain.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Flora, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Flora?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Keywords handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Flora on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Flora if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Keywords will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Flora already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Flora isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Keywords early rather than rehoming privately; they know Flora and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (ES). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
