Adopt Flora

Lurcher · Female · Young · 2 years

This is Flora, our lovely dinky lurcher who recently joined the family. Flora came to us from the pound so we don’t know too much about her history, so we can only go off what we’ve seen from her behaviour and temperament here at Sun Valley. Flora is 2 years old, so she is a young and active lurcher. She’s also very intelligent and eager to please. If you’re looking for a dog that you can train, or do activities with such as agility or flyball etc, Flora would be absolutely fabulous to consider. She is SO switched on and a very fast learner. Flora is not a dog for laid back owners who just want a companion to sit on the sofa with all day. This is a dog who needs physical and mental stimulation, and wants to be kept busy. She’d do great in a home with an active family who like to go on long adventures together. Flora will be fiercely loyal to her family and will bond to the right people like an absolute dream, this really is a smart little lady with a lot of love to give! With the right training and consistency, Flora is a dog can that eventually be trusted off the lead. In the right hands, she is going to blossom into a fantastic, smart and totally loveable family member. Flora is not a first time dog owners’ kind of dog, but if you’re experienced, confident and are looking for a smarty to really get stuck into and train, she honestly is the perfect choice. Flora has met dogs here, and so far, so good! She does like to rough and tumble so if you have another dog in the home they will need to be happy to engage in rough lurcher play. Children will be considered, but we always do a few meet ups here at the kennels when there’s another dog / children involved to make sure everyone is 100% happy before adoption day. Flora is finding the kennels a bit boring and stressful, and just wants to start her new life with her new family. Please do get in touch if you’re interested in our girl, she’s so excited to meet you! Do you think you could give a hound a loving home? About Flora

What life with Flora looks like

Flora is a young adult lurcher dog waiting at description in United Kingdom.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Flora, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Flora?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. description handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Flora on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Flora if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — description will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Flora already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Flora isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with description early rather than rehoming privately; they know Flora and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
