Flynn

Lurcher · Male · Young · 3 years

Hello, I’m Flynn! Chief Volunteer Kisser, Professional Cuddler and Aspiring Sofa Companion.I’m a gorgeous chunky Lurcher with long legs, a big heart and absolutely no intention of keeping my kisses to myself. The volunteers here know that if they stop to say hello, there’s a very good chance they’ll leave with a kiss or two. I’m a big, soppy boy who loves his people, and I’m always delighted when someone has time for a cuddle.I’m also rather good at watching the world go by. I like to find a spot, take it all in and see what everyone’s up to. Then, when the mood strikes, I’m ready to show off my playful side. There’s plenty of fun in me, along with an even bigger helping of affection.I’m getting braver every day, but the world still surprises me sometimes. If something is new, I might need a moment to work it out. A calm voice, a bit of patience and someone I trust beside me make all the difference. Every little adventure helps my confidence grow, and it’s lovely to see more of my personality come out as I go.I can make doggy friends, although I’m still practising my greetings with dogs I haven’t met before. I’d love a family who can help me keep learning at a comfortable pace. I could potentially live with older, dog savvy teenagers who’ll understand if I sometimes need a little breathing room.Mostly, I’m looking for someone to give me a chance. Come and meet me, spend a little time getting to know me, and you might find yourself with a funny, gentle, kiss-giving best friend who thinks you’re the best person in the world.I’ve got all this love to give. About Flynn

What life with Flynn looks like

Flynn is a large young adult lurcher dog waiting at National Animal Welfare Trust in Watford.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Flynn, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Flynn?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. National Animal Welfare Trust handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Flynn on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Flynn if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — National Animal Welfare Trust will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Flynn already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Flynn isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with National Animal Welfare Trust early rather than rehoming privately; they know Flynn and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
