Forte

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

Forte was picked up by the Animal Police on the street and is now waiting in the Public Shelter in Baia Mare behind the bars of his kennel for a second chance. Maybe he was simply left behind and had to fend for himself, maybe he has known the harsh life on the street since he was little - what he has experienced so far, we unfortunately don't know. But Forte is still young and has his whole life ahead of him: he deserves people who give him security and show him that he has finally arrived. Forte is a large dog about one year old with a shoulder height of approximately 60 cm and a sporty, slender build. His short coat shines in sand to light brown tones and forms a striking contrast to his dark brown to black coloration in the facial and neck area. His light brown eyes especially catch the eye, as they stand out expressively from his dark facial mask. His black nose fits harmoniously into the coat pattern and, together with his elegant appearance, gives him a very special expression. Forte approaches people in a friendly manner and shows himself open in dealing with them. He is lively and sometimes a bit nervous, which is why he needs people who give him security with calmness, patience and clear orientation. He gets along well with females; how he reacts to other males is not yet known. Forte could be a Malinois mix - dogs of this type are often intelligent, attentive, eager to work and very trainable. They need not only physical exercise, but also mental tasks, a clear, fair leadership and people who enjoy promoting them in a meaningful way. Forte's hind leg gait is noticeable; he also limps slightly with his right hind leg. The cause is to be medically clarified, so that no final assessment is possible at the moment. His future people should therefore be willing to accompany him health-wise on his further way and adapt his load to the veterinary findings. For Forte, life in a home will initially hold many new impressions, and he must first learn what it means to arrive as a family dog. With loving consistency, patience and positive reinforcement, he can gain security step by step and develop into a reliable companion. A positively working dog school can help to learn together, build trust and create a good basis for everyday life. Forte wants to get to know his environment and needs people who enjoy engaging him physically and mentally in a meaningful way. Nose work, search games, small training sessions and varied walks can help him to channel his energy into the right channels and to use his clever head. However, until his hind leg is medically clarified, exercise and training should be adapted to his health needs. We wish Forte a very loving and empathetic home with people who meet him with heart, patience and a sense of responsibility. His future family should enjoy an active, inquisitive dog and be willing to support him both in his upbringing and health. If you are interested, please contact us or fill out the self-disclosure form. We also cordially invite everyone who can offer a foster home to contact us. Your support and willingness to give a dog in need a loving home for the time being is a great help to us and the animals. Forte travels neutered, vaccinated, chipped, dewormed and flea-free and will be placed for a reduced adoption fee and with a valid EU pet passport after a positive pre-control. Thank you Francesca T.! You have given Forte a name and thus a unique identity. Status: 30.10.2026

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Stand: 30.10.2026

About Forte

What life with Forte looks like

Forte is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Forte, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Forte?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Forte on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Forte if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Forte already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Forte isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Forte and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
