Size: 55cmAge: *February 11, 2019. Compatible with:Rams: YesDoes: YesCats: Not yet testedSince: February 8, 2026At our area: animal shelter ANAA May 2026 – Fortuna – a Silent Soul is searching for safety. Fortuna is a quiet, sensitive female dog who likely hasn't experienced much beauty in her previous life. She was found exhausted on a street in Almeria – hungry, cautious, and full of insecurity. Although she is now in safety, her heart still needs time to build trust. The pretty female dog is of medium size, weighs 29 kilos, and is distinguished by her gentle nature. Fortuna is not a dog who immediately joyfully throws herself into the arms of a human. She prefers to observe from a certain distance. She needs people who allow her to come to them without pressure and give her time. Despite her fears, Fortuna never shows aggression. Even when she feels insecure, she remains friendly and good-natured. With patience, she now allows herself to be stroked and is slowly beginning to understand that touches can also be beautiful. She lives peacefully with other dogs. She does not push herself on, accepts her fellow animals without problem, and may orient herself to confident dogs. For Fortuna, we wish for a home with patient people with dog experience who do not expect quick progress. People who are happy with small steps and show her that the world is not just made of fear. A safe everyday life, loving routine, and understanding companionship will help her bloom more and more. Fortuna does not seek perfection; she simply seeks people who see her and finally give her the security she probably never had.

About Fortuna

What life with Fortuna looks like

Fortuna is a medium-sized senior mixed breed dog waiting at Tiere in Spanien e.V. in Hamburg.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Fortuna, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Fortuna?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tiere in Spanien e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Fortuna on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Fortuna if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tiere in Spanien e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Fortuna already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Fortuna isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tiere in Spanien e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Fortuna and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
