Let’s reintroduce you to our special girl Rizzo, one of our longest staying residents here at the Hotel. Rizzo arrived at the Hotel last year as an unclaimed stray, understandably anxious and unsure of her surroundings. Thankfully, one of our wonderful foster carers welcomed Rizzo into her home, providing the reassurance and structure she needed. Overtime, Rizzo has made remarkable progress but she is still searching for a home to call her own. For anyone curious about Rizzo, we’ve made it easy. Take a look at our lovely chat with her foster mum, along with some new portraits that show off exactly why she’s so special. What does Rizzo’s daily routine look like? “We have established a great routine. Rizzo wakes up with the first light and usually climbs into bed for a quick cuddle before we start our day. Her first walk is around 6:00 AM, which is perfect as it’s quiet enough for her to enjoy a good sniff without other dogs around. She goes out 4–5 times a day, ending with another long walk when it is peaceful. Rizzo is a curious and active dog, so I hope her new family can maintain this activity level. She also has a high prey drive, so we make sure to have playtime in the afternoon; many stuffed animals have fallen victim to these sessions!” What is Rizzo’s ideal day out? “Rizzo loves adventures! She has joined us in many places, including Cheddar Gorge and West Wales. She is happiest on long walks where there aren't many other dogs around. She is also very well-behaved in restaurants and cafes if you decide to stop for a refreshment.” What makes Rizzo a good house guest? “Rizzo is a very loving companion and is essentially my shadow at home. She is fully house-trained. She is also very funny—she throws proper little “tantrums” if she isn't getting attention and even does fake cries when she wants something. She is great while I am working and will often cuddle up on my lap for a nap.” You have had Rizzo on foster for some time; what do you want people to know about her? “Rizzo is loved by everyone she meets, including my nail technician, as she always comes along to my appointments. She is the perfect small pooch—active, loving, and up for anything. The only reason she has been on foster with us for 7 months is that she is dog reactive. We don't know her history or previous trauma, but she simply does not like other dogs. However, she has absolutely wrapped us around her paw and is the perfect little companion.” We are incredibly grateful to Rizzo’s foster mum for giving us such a heartfelt and insightful glimpse into Rizzo’s daily life.
