Foxy

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Adult · 8 years

Age: Born around September 2018. Gender: MaleAdditional Information: Neutered, microchipped, vaccinatedHeight:约52cm. Weight:约23kgLocation: 61273 WehrheimCompatibility: compatible with other dogsFoxy originally came from Romania and arrived in Germany at the beginning of 2023. After a short time, he had to leave his first home due to overloading. Subsequently, he lived on a foster home within our team. There, he showed himself to be well compatible with the existing dogs, also with small fellow animals, and he got along problemlessly in everyday life. However, when living with the male partner of the foster home, he showed aggressive behavior in various situations due to insecurity, so a professional placement for Foxy was sought. In the following, Foxy spent several months at the Camp Küstenköter as well as a short time at the Hundezentrum zur Pippinsburg, where he was professionally assessed and worked with. At the end of 2023, he was finally adopted by a trainee and aspiring dog trainer who had met him at the Camp Küstenköter. Unfortunately, Foxy now loses his home again due to private circumstances and is looking for a new, suitable perspective by the end of March. Foxy brought up themes in the area of aggressive behavior, on which intensive work had already been done, so that he is well integrable in everyday life with appropriate management and guidance. Under calm, clear, and consistent leadership, Foxy shows himself to be well manageable in cohabitation and is a cheerful and playful companion who participates in every fun. Foxy is a sensitive, people-oriented dog who forms a close bond with his trusted people. At the same time, he brings with him due to genetic predisposition and his past experiences a certain skepticism (especially towards strangers and men), limited frustration tolerance, and low impulse control. Foxy is a dog with many ideas and willpower. Meanwhile, he has learned to restrain himself in many situations and is well oriented and cooperative. The central theme is his handling of proximity and distance: Foxy actively seeks the proximity of his person and shows itself initially without distance and controlling, but then becomes overwhelmed and shows inappropriate behavior, in which he also uses his teeth. Here, people are needed who consciously steer the proximity and guide him accordingly. Also in situations that are threatening or not controllable for him, he shows snapping behavior at the beginning of cohabitation. In everyday life, Foxy therefore wears a muzzle as a permanent part of his management. With other dogs, Foxy is generally well compatible and social. Without clear guidance, he shows tendencies to pester on the leash, which can be well controlled through consistent handling. Foxy can also be left alone for several hours, travels well by car, and is house-trained. He enjoys working with people and mental challenges like search and scent work and mantrailing. His test for foreign diseases is negative, and recently, his teeth were cleaned and treated. Foxy is not a dog who simply walks along in everyday life. He needs people who are willing to guide him in a structured manner, keep situations in view, and take responsibility. He is looking for a home with people who do not expect everything to work but are honest in working with him. Alternatively, we urgently seek a knowledgeable foster home, preferably with dog trainers, aspiring trainers, or people with experience in dealing with dogs with aggressive behavior. Foxy can be met in 61273 Wehrheim.

About Foxy

What life with Foxy looks like

Foxy is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Paderborn in Paderborn.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Foxy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Foxy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Paderborn handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Foxy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Foxy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Paderborn will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Foxy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Foxy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Paderborn early rather than rehoming privately; they know Foxy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
