Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 4 months

Name Franz Born 01.04.2025 Gender male dog Breed mixed breed Size will be approximately medium: min. 55cm Foster home Franz has won the hearts of his new people and can now start anew 😉 The ages mentioned here are often estimated values, as we don't always know the exact age. Other information, such as size, is subjective. Foster home report Our foster dog Franz moved in with us yesterday afternoon and has shown himself to be his best self since then. Franz is very open and social, and for the puppy, everything is still a big adventure. He gets along well with life in the house and the everyday stimuli he has encountered so far (TV, vacuum cleaner, coffee machine, Sodastream...). On walks, Franz walks calmly on the leash and lets himself be fitted with the harness without any problems. In the house, Franz still needs help to settle down, but he is gradually getting used to it. Even though Franz is uncomplicated and friendly, he should be with people who want to shape the puppy adventure lovingly but also consistently. Franz originally came from a small animal shelter near Athens. The animal protection colleagues have asked us for help with this young man. His story and description: Franz and five other puppies were rescued by the city fire department, previously the puppies were thrown out of the car one by one. Unfortunately, a sad everyday life in Greece. Of the six fluffy little puppies, only two survived. The little fighter Franz moved into our intake station FurryTales and quickly warmed up. He is typical of a puppy, playful and open, his everyday life consists of playing, eating, sleeping, repeat. Franz is social with other animals and can be tested with cats. We wish that Franz does not have to grow up in the kennel but finds his people quickly. Our Franz has not yet experienced much in life, so he would definitely be happy to attend dog training classes or learn the dog 101 from experienced dog people. Leider trauriger Alltag in Griechenland. About Franz F. (vermittelt)

What life with Franz F. (vermittelt) looks like

Franz F. (vermittelt) is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. in Zornheim.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Franz F. (vermittelt), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Franz F. (vermittelt)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Franz F. (vermittelt) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Franz F. (vermittelt) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Franz F. (vermittelt) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Franz F. (vermittelt) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Franz F. (vermittelt) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
