Franz

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 3 months

Hi, I am Franz. I was found abandoned together with my siblings by one of the wonderful Dog Rose volunteers. She couldn’t leave us behind and took us into her home, where we are being lovingly fostered until we find families of our own. Thanks to her kindness, I’m growing up safe and surrounded by love at The Dog Rose Shelter in Romania. I am an adorable boy and currently weigh just 2 kg. My mommy weighs only 5 kg, so I will stay small when I grow up. I am a cheerful and playful little guy who loves discovering the world around me. I am curious and confident, but also balanced and gentle. I get along beautifully with dogs, cats and kids, making me a wonderful companion for almost any family. Whether you live in the city or the countryside, I’ll be happy as long as I’m loved and included in your life. Right now, I am enjoying life in foster care in Romania, dreaming of the day when my forever family comes to take me home. Could that be you?

About Franz

What life with Franz looks like

Franz is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at The Dog Rose) in Dogrose.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Franz, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Franz?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. The Dog Rose) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Franz on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Franz if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — The Dog Rose) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Franz already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Franz isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with The Dog Rose) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Franz and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
