Freddie

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 2 years

Freddie was born in May 2024 on Crete. His foster dad writes about him: Little Freddie came into the world in May 2024 in the village of Sfaka on Crete. Together with his sisters and his mom, he one day turned up at a feeding station run by Kretapfötchen. At first he was a bit shy, but after some time he gained trust, liked being petted, and could already purr like a grown-up. When he and his sisters were old enough, the three of them and their mom were neutered. After the neutering, everyone was allowed to spend the night in Thomas's house to make sure they had come through the surgery and anesthesia without problems. The next day, after a tasty breakfast and a few cuddles, they were released back outside. But Freddie and his sister didn't think life in the house was bad either, and they decided to stay over the winter. On nice days they went outside, and on bad days they spent the night snuggled up cozily with the humans. A wonderful cat's life! Unfortunately, that came to an end in March, when Thomas had to move out of the little house in Sfaka at the end of March. Since he couldn't take Freddie and several other affectionate cats with him, they went to Gina's foster home. And on 26.05., Freddie was allowed to move on to Leise Pfoten in Dresden. He is in foster care there as well, waiting for his forever home. He is a sweet fellow who gets along with everyone and greets all newcomers with curiosity. At the new foster home in Dresden he has no free roaming, but he has a nice secured balcony. We'll see whether he is happy with that or whether he may need free roaming again. In any case, he needs cat company to play with and sometimes to romp around with. He is a lovable little survivor. The Dresden foster home has nothing to add to this. Freddie arrived and felt at home. He gets along well with all cats. He is a very social, uncomplicated tomcat who enjoys cuddling with his cat buddies and his humans.

DE·Show original

About Freddie

What life with Freddie looks like

Freddie is a large young adult mixed breed cat waiting at Tierschutzverein Leise-Pfoten e.V. in Germany.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Freddie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Freddie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Leise-Pfoten e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Freddie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Freddie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Leise-Pfoten e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Freddie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Freddie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Leise-Pfoten e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Freddie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
