** Please note the ‘Contact for Availability’ function is currently not working. Please email the Rescue direct () if you are enquiring about an animal and include the animal’s name ** Freddy is a handsome nearly 3-year-old male French Bulldog who has arrived into our care from a pound we work with after being found as an unclaimed stray. When Freddy first arrived at the pound, he was a very scared and bewildered boy. He simply could not understand what was happening or why he was there. The pound contacted us to see if we had room, as we are a much smaller and quieter rescue, in the hope that Freddy would not feel so overwhelmed. Thankfully, since arriving at our Rescue, Freddy has done amazingly well and settled in really nicely. Freddy is a sweet, loving and loyal little boy once he gets to know you. With new people, however, he can be nervous and needs a little time to feel safe and comfortable. Once he trusts you, his funny little personality really starts to shine through! Freddy certainly has lots of character. Not only does he have a wonderful funny personality, but his hilarious facial expressions will have you laughing every day! Our adoption fee for dogs is £250, which includes: neutering, vaccinations, microchipping, flea & worm treatment, full veterinary health check and lifetime rescue back-up. Please remember that adopting a rescue dog is a long-term commitment. We are looking for the right home for Freddy rather than simply the first home available. Our adoption process includes an application, virtual home check and the necessary checks before adoption. PLEASE NOTE: Due to the demands of rescue and the number of dogs waiting to come into our care, we are unfortunately unable to hold dogs for extended periods of time. If you apply for Freddy, you must be in a position to adopt within a reasonable timeframe. About Freddy

What life with Freddy looks like

Freddy is a young adult english bulldog dog waiting at Pennine Pen Animal Rescue CIO in United Kingdom.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Freddy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Freddy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Pennine Pen Animal Rescue CIO handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Freddy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Freddy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Pennine Pen Animal Rescue CIO will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Freddy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Freddy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Pennine Pen Animal Rescue CIO early rather than rehoming privately; they know Freddy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
