Hoi… ik ben Freddy. Maar mijn vrienden noemen me ook wel Fredje. Ik zal je eens een geheimpje vertellen: ik ben eigenlijk gewoon één grote knuffel in een stoer kattenlijf. In het café zeggen ze dat ik met iedereen bevriend ben. En dat klopt ook wel. Zie ik een nieuw katje? Dan denk ik meteen: oh leuk, een vriend! Soms… oké vooruit… soms hebben ze daar zelf nog niet helemaal zin in. Maar dat snap ik dan pas later. Tegen die tijd heb ik ze vaak al een flinke wasbeurt gegeven. Hygiëne is belangrijk, toch? Spelen vind ik echt het allerleukst. Dan kan ik zo opgaan in het moment dat ik een beetje vergeet hoe groot en sterk ik ben. Maar geloof me: er zit geen greintje kwaad in mij. Ik ben gewoon enthousiast. Heel enthousiast. En ja… over groot gesproken… ik ben een flinke jongen. Ze geven me hier speciaal eten zodat ik een beetje op mijn lijn kan letten. Iets met “appetite control”… ik noem het gewoon mijn modeldieet. Werkt vast goed, zolang ik daarna maar extra geaaid word. Aaien… daar wilde ik het nog over hebben.Als jij me zachtjes over mijn zandkleurige, getijgerde vacht strijkt, begin ik meteen te spinnen. Mijn vacht is kort en zacht, en ze zeggen dat mijn oogjes perfect bij mijn kleurtje passen. Jij mag zelf komen kijken… maar pas op: voor je het weet ben je helemaal verloren in mijn blik. Ik vind dat niet erg hoor. Ik blijf gewoon lekker doorspinnen. Drukte is alleen niet echt mijn ding. Als het te lawaaierig wordt, trek ik me even terug. Gewoon een rustig plekje, even opladen. Maar zodra het weer kalm is… dan kom ik nieuwsgierig weer even piepen. Alsof ik wil zeggen: “Ik ben er weer hoor!” Wat ik zoek?Een plekje waar ik mezelf kan zijn. Waar iemand met me speelt, me aandacht geeft en begrijpt dat ik soms even rust nodig heb. Andere katten mogen, maar het hoeft niet per se—zolang jij maar met mij bezig bent. Kleine, drukke mensjes zijn een beetje spannend voor me. Maar grotere kinderen, die rustig met me omgaan? Die vind ik helemaal prima. Oh, en nog iets belangrijks: ik blijf liever binnen. Buiten kan alleen als het veilig is, zoals in een afgesloten tuin of kattenren. Ze willen hier gewoon goed voor me zorgen.
