Freddy

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 2 years

Our dear Freddy is currently waiting on Crete with Uwe and Craciella for his own home, where he can finally arrive. They wrote to us: Name: Freddy Estimated date of birth: April 2025 (approx. 1.5 years old) Status: Neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and FIV-positive (confirmed by a full blood count) Character: Extremely affectionate and very much in need of cuddles Story & special notes: Freddy comes from a stray colony and was caught in October 2025 at about half a year old. At that time he had a large wound on the side of his muzzle, which has since healed well. It has not closed perfectly - it resembles a small cleft lip - but it gives him a charming expression, as if he is always smiling. Health: Six weeks ago, Freddy had all of his teeth extracted except for the front four canines. He currently has no gum problems at all. For ongoing care he receives Restomyl gel regularly, which has worked very well. Freddy tested positive for FIV. This means he will only be placed in indoor housing and either kept alone or with another FIV-positive cat. If you are interested in Freddy, please write to us at Rest assured, we will take care of getting the cat to Germany quickly.

About Freddy

What life with Freddy looks like

Freddy is a large young adult mixed breed cat waiting at Tierschutzverein Leise-Pfoten e.V. in Germany.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Freddy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Freddy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Leise-Pfoten e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Freddy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Freddy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Leise-Pfoten e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Freddy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Freddy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Leise-Pfoten e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Freddy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
